Welcome to my personal blog about my journey in writing and publishing my first book. A couple of years ago I gave birth to my little girl three months too early. After 12 weeks in the hospital she was finally able to come home, however, she was on a feeding tube and had hundreds of doctors appointments. I had to quit my job and become a stay at home mom to my little girl and toddler boy. During this time, with lots of sitting around the house with nothing to do, I reentered the wonderful world of reading. I used to read constantly when I was younger and forgot how much I loved it! After buying my first Kindle and having thousands of books at my fingertips, my passion for reading was reignited. One day, after perusing the offerings of Amazon Kindle, I was unable to find something to read next so I decided to write my own book. What could be better than being the one to decide how a book starts and ends and what happens in between? It took me about 7 months from beginning to end but I finished. On a lark, I decided to make up a query letter and try my luck at getting my book published. I was one of the lucky ones who received an offer of publication after only a week or two of sending out query letters. It’s been a long process but my book was published on Tuesday August 12, 2014!
While dealing with the intense rewrites, editing, and cover art process, I was also taking care of a sick child, another toddler, and trying to complete my bachelor’s degree. It was a long hard road but it has been worth every drop of blood, sweat, and tears.
